A More Excellent Way – October 31, 2015

Today’s Translation: The Amplified Bible | Weekly Video: Be the Church (1 Corinthians 12:27-31)

“But earnestly desire and strive for the greater gifts [if acquiring them is going to be your goal]. And yet I will show you a still more excellent way [one of the choicest graces and the highest of them all: unselfish love].” – 1 Corinthians 12:31

Live It Out!

A star athlete is nothing without a healthy body. We must keep the Church healthy by exercising our faith through prayer, study and service. The Church is not a building. The Church is not an institution. The Church is the people of God. And the people of God are called to love God and neighbor above all.

Take the High Road – October 30, 2015

Today’s Translation: New International Version | Weekly Video: Be the Church (1 Corinthians 12:27-31)

“Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret? Now eagerly desire the greater gifts. And yet I will show you the most excellent way.” – 1 Corinthians 12:29-31

Live It Out!

As the body of Christ, how we live reflects on our King. Represent Him well by always taking the high road. Know who you are, find your strengths and weaknesses and seek to live in peace with those who are different than you.

Piece of the Puzzle – October 29, 2015

Today’s Translation: The Message | Weekly Video: Be the Church (1 Corinthians 12:27-31)

“You are Christ’s body— that’s who you are! You must never forget this. Only as you accept your part of that body does your “part” mean anything. You’re familiar with some of the parts that God has formed in his church, which is his “body”: apostles, prophets, teachers, miracle workers, healers, helpers, organizers and those who pray in tongues.” – 1 Corinthians 12:27-28

Live It Out!

No one person can save the world. Jesus came to set the example for us to follow. We are His body. He chose us to do His work. Find your role, surround yourself with people who complement you and then go out and change the world one lost soul at a time!

Appointed by God – October 28, 2015

Today’s Translation: Holman Christian Standard Bible | Weekly Video: Be the Church (1 Corinthians 12:27-31)

“And God has placed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, next miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, managing, various kinds of languages.” – 1 Corinthians 12:28

Live It Out!

Just as each member of the body has its own role and function, each member of the Church has an important part to play in helping the body do what it was designed to do – make disciples of all nations. God has appointed us all to something important for His Kingdom.

Bigger than Us – October 27, 2015

Today’s Translation: The Voice Bible | Weekly Video: Be the Church (1 Corinthians 12:27-31)

“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” – 1 Corinthians 12:27

Live It Out!

A great team will always beat a group of great players. The Church is bigger than anyone one person. The Church is bigger than any one denomination. The Church is bigger than any one country. The Church is the one thing that will outlive us all. We must work together knowing we are building something that will last.

Collected Individuals – October 26, 2015

Today’s Translation: New Living Translation | Weekly Video: Be the Church (1 Corinthians 12:27-31)

“All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.” – 1 Corinthians 12:27-31

Live It Out!

The Church is made up of individuals. God created each of us with our own gifts, talents and passions so that we can work together to build up the body. The best way to ‘find yourself’ is to find your place in the Church. We – all of us – are the body of Christ.

Rejoice Together – October 24, 2015

Today’s Translation: The Amplified Bible | Weekly Video: All for One (1 Corinthians 12:21-26)

“And if one member suffers, all the parts share the suffering; if one member is honored, all rejoice with it.” – 1 Corinthians 12:26

Live It Out!

We generally do a good job at celebrating the big things in life — birthdays weddings, etc. — but we don’t always do a good job lifting each other up for smaller accomplishments. When you smile, your whole body feels happy, so, as the body of Christ, we need to smile more together.

Suffer Together – October 23, 2015

Today’s Translation: New International Version | Weekly Video: All for One (1 Corinthians 12:21-26)

“If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.” – 1 Corinthians 12:26

Live It Out!

If your stomach stops digesting or your heart stops pumping, your whole body will shut down until the problem is fixed. If one member of the body of Christ suffers, the whole Church suffers too. We must be there to lift each other up so we can move forward together. Healing takes time, but it also takes love and grace.

God Gives Us Honor – October 22, 2015

Today’s Translation: The Message | Weekly Video: All for One (1 Corinthians 12:21-26)

“The way God designed our bodies is a model for understanding our lives together as a church: every part dependent on every other part, the parts we mention and the parts we don’t, the parts we see and the parts we don’t.” – 1 Corinthians 12:25

Live It Out!

When we live our lives for God rather than for ourselves, we don’t have to worry about chasing honor, glory or credit. Give God the glory, honor the sacrifice of Jesus, and give credit to the Holy Spirit who lives inside you. God will raise you up, and you will have stored up treasure in heaven where no rust or moth will ever touch it.

Least Shall Be First – October 21, 2015

Today’s Translation: Holman Christian Standard Bible | Weekly Video: All for One (1 Corinthians 12:21-26)

“And those parts of the body that we think to be less honorable, we clothe these with greater honor, and our unpresentable parts have a better presentation. But our presentable parts have no need of clothing.” – 1 Corinthians 12:23-24

Live It Out!

The parts of the body we never think about are generally the ones that are keeping us alive. Likewise, the most important people in our lives are the ones who never get enough credit. Be mindful of the teachers, coaches and volunteers who have sown into your life and in the lives of your kids, and be sure to thank them whenever you can.

Respect Others – October 20, 2015

Today’s Translation: The Voice Bible | Weekly Video: All for One (1 Corinthians 12:21-26)

“The eye cannot wail at the hand, “I have no need for you,” nor could the head bellow at the feet, “I won’t go one more step with you.” It’s actually the opposite. The members who seem to have the weaker functions are necessary to keep the body moving.” – 1 Corinthians 12:21-22

Live It Out!

Because we are all a part of the body of Christ, we must learn to respect one another. Our lives are connected whether we want them to be or not. We can either move forward together, or we can continue to fight each other and end up going nowhere fast. We must respect others no matter their walk of life.

All Are Indispensable – October 19, 2015

Today’s Translation: New Living Translation | Weekly Video: All for One (1 Corinthians 12:21-26)

“The eye can never say to the hand, “I don’t need you.” The head can’t say to the feet, “I don’t need you.”In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary.” – 1 Corinthians 12:21-22

Live It Out!

We are designed in such a way that every cell, tissue and organ play a vital role in the overall health and function of our bodies. God designed the Church to work the same way. We need to be able to rely on each other because none of us can change this world on our own.
