Six Thirty Saturday Nite (Prince of Peace)

Tonight I (Dustin) preached a message entitled “Prince of Peace” about how Jesus entered Jerusalem in peace despite knowing He was going to die. After our service, I watched the #GOPDebate, which was full of personal attacks and hateful rhetoric. After that, I was scrolling through Twitter where people are celebrating the death of Justice #Scalia.  If we want to fix our country, we must begin by looking in at our own hearts. There is this dark bitterness that is tearing apart our souls, dividing us into tribes rather than us coming together in common purpose. Those of us in the Church bear this burden because we know who Jesus is and what He did for us on the cross.  Can we all please grow up and follow the example of our Lord by laying our lives down for our friends (and enemies)? The love that led Jesus to the cross is the only thing powerful enough to overcome the evil in this world. from Paradigm Shift Ministries http://ift.tt/1of9Sa2 via IFTTT

Blessings – February 13, 2016

Today’s Translation : The Amplified Bible | Weekly Video : Staying Humble (1 Kings 3:3-14) “I have also given you what you have not asked, both wealth and honor, so that there will not be anyone equal to you among the kings, for all your days. If you walk in My ways, keeping My statutes and My commandments, as your father David did, then I will lengthen your days.” – 1 Kings 3:13-14 (AMP) Live It Out! God blesses those who walk in His ways and live their lives as testaments to His grace and goodness. Now, we may never achieve the wealth or splendor of Solomon, but we have something so much greater to look forward to – eternal life! Our blessing comes through the blood of Jesus, the Son of God Himself! Unfortunately, Solomon would let his heart wander. Let us remain focused on living every aspect of our lives in honor of the One who gave us life. from Paradigm Shift Ministries http://ift.tt/1Qdw3te via IFTTT

Servant Leadership – February 12, 2016

Today’s Translation : New International Version | Weekly Video : Staying Humble (1 Kings 3:3-14) “So God said to him, ‘Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice, I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be…'” – 1 Kings 3:11-12 (NIV) Live It Out! As leaders, if we want others to submit to us, we must show we are willing ourselves to submit to a higher authority (and there is no higher authority than God!). If we pray in accordance to God’s will, He will bless our efforts. True success can only come from living for God. Live for Him and be blessed, or live for yourself and end up feeling empty – it’s your choice. from Paradigm Shift Ministries http://ift.tt/1mweBlM via IFTTT

Pray for Wisdom – February 11, 2016

Today’s Translation : The Message | Weekly Video : Staying Humble (1 Kings 3:3-14) “‘Here’s what I want: Give me a God-listening heart so I can lead your people well, discerning the difference between good and evil. For who on their own is capable of leading your glorious people?’ God, the Master, was delighted with Solomon’s response.” – 1 Kings 3:9-10 (MSG) Live It Out! When we pray, let us pray for God to direct our lives. Don’t pray for fame, fortune or an easy life. Instead, pray for God to equip you to do the things He has called you to do – especially when it comes to leading others. There is no greater honor or responsibility we have than to mentor and build up the next generation. Let us set an example by humbling submitting to God and allowing Him to make our paths straight. from Paradigm Shift Ministries http://ift.tt/1Kd7DNY via IFTTT

Overwhelmed – February 10, 2016

Today’s Translation : Holman Christian Standard Bible |  Weekly Video :  Staying Humble (1 Kings 3:3-14) “Lord my God, You have now made Your servant king in my father David’s place. Yet I am just a youth with no experience in leadership. Your servant is among Your people You have chosen, people too numerous to be numbered or counted…” – 1 Kings 3:7-8 (HCSB) Live It Out!  As the Church, God calls us to do things that are not possible for us apart from Him. This can be overwhelming, but God is with us through His Spirit. Solomon had a huge responsibility to take care of the people of Israel, and he realized he could not do the job without God granting him divine wisdom. Let us stay humble even when God calls us to do great things. from Paradigm Shift Ministries http://ift.tt/1PkqC8d via IFTTT

Steadfast Love – February 9, 2016

Today’s Translation : The Voice Bible | Weekly Video : Staying Humble (1 Kings 3:3-14) “The Eternal revealed Himself to Solomon in a dream while he was still in Gibeon. Eternal One : Tell me, what is your request of Me? Solomon : You have already revealed Your loyal love to my father, David, for he lived by Your truth and righteousness and honor during the days of his life. You have continued to show this loyal love to him by giving him a son who now reigns upon his throne…” – 1 Kings 3:5-6 (VOICE) Live It Out! As Solomon worshiped the Lord, God asked him what he wanted. Solomon began his reply by remembering the steadfast love God had shown to his father, David. As we come before God in prayer, let us never forget the steadfast love He has shown to us and our forebears. from Paradigm Shift Ministries http://ift.tt/1QoGZhM via IFTTT

Big Shoes to Fill – February 8, 2016

Today’s Translation : New Living Translation | Weekly Video : Staying Humble (1 Kings 3:3-14) “Solomon loved the Lord and followed all the decrees of his father, David, except that Solomon, too, offered sacrifices and burned incense at the local places of worship. The most important of these places of worship was at Gibeon, so the king went there and sacrificed 1,000 burnt offerings.” – 1 Kings 3:3-4 (NLT) Live It Out! David was a legendary figure in the history of Israel – the warrior king who united the twelve tribes. It must have been overwhelming for Solomon to have to assume the throne from his father, yet he began his reign by worshiping the God of his father. For us, it is easy to feel overwhelmed when we realize we are here to represent Jesus, but, if we turn to Him, His Spirit will carry us through. from Paradigm Shift Ministries http://ift.tt/1moepVJ via IFTTT
