We Are God’s Workers – May 31, 2016

Today’s Translation: The Voice Bible | Weekly Video: Kingdom Building (1 Corinthians 3:1-23) “So who is Apollos really? Or Paul for that matter? We are only servants, agents who led you to faith, and the Lord commissioned each of us to do a particular job. My job was to plant the seed, and Apollos was called to water it. Any growth comes from God, so the ones who water and plant have nothing to brag about. God, who causes the growth, is the only One who matters. The one who plants is no greater than the one who waters; both will be rewarded based on their work. We are gardeners and field workers laboring with God. You are the vineyard, the garden, the house where God dwells.” – 1 Corinthians 3:5-9 (VOICE) Live It Out! It’s easy to latch on to certain pastors or ministry leaders, but we are called to latch on to Christ and Christ alone. Those of us in ministry (and we are all called to ministry) are to work together to tell the world about Jesus. No matter your role or the scope o

Baby Christians – May 30, 2016

Today’s Translation: New Living Translation | Weekly Video: Kingdom Building (1 Corinthians 3:1-23) “Dear brothers and sisters, when I was with you I couldn’t talk to you as I would to spiritual people. I had to talk as though you belonged to this world or as though you were infants in Christ. I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food, because you weren’t ready for anything stronger. And you still aren’t ready, for you are still controlled by your sinful nature. You are jealous of one another and quarrel with each other. Doesn’t that prove you are controlled by your sinful nature? Aren’t you living like people of the world? When one of you says, ‘I am a follower of Paul,’ and another says, ‘I follow Apollos,’ aren’t you acting just like people of the world?” – 1 Corinthians 3:1-4 (NLT) Live It Out! Most of us never go as deep with our faith as we know we should. If we want to be a part of the change we want to see in the world, then we must graduate from milk to solid food

Six Thirty Saturday Nite (The Whole Truth) - May 21, 2016

Image
Join us live across Facebook, Periscope, Twitter, YouTube and Live.PrayGrowServe.com every Six Thirty Saturday Nite (6:30pm EST)! This week, we looked at Apollos and the other disciples from Ephesus who had not heard the whole story of who Jesus is, what He came to do and what He is calling us to do.

Outward Sign – May 28, 2016

Today’s Translation: The Amplified Bible | Weekly Video: The Whole Truth (Acts 18:24-19:7) “After hearing this, they were baptized [again, this time] in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking in [unknown] tongues (languages) and prophesying. There were about twelve men in all.” – Acts 19:5-7 (AMP) Live It Out! Throughout the book of Acts, ‘speaking in tongues and prophesying’ were used as outward signs of the Holy Spirit moving on the inside. When we come to Christ and are filled with the Holy Spirit, there should be a marked change in the way people see us. They should see less of us and more of Him. Certainly not everyone will speak in tongues or prophesy, but we all have talents, gifts and passions that are fanned into flame when the Spirit moves in our midst. Let’s let our light shine! from Paradigm Shift Ministries http://ift.tt/1qQVMvR via IFTTT

John’s Baptism – May 27, 2016

Today’s Translation: New International Version | Weekly Video: The Whole Truth (Acts 18:24-19:7) “So Paul asked, ‘Then what baptism did you receive?’ ‘John’s baptism,’ they replied. Paul said, ‘John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.'” – Acts 19:3-4 (NIV) Live It Out! These disciples had heard about Jesus via John the Baptist. They had repented of their sin, but they did not know the whole story of how Jesus died for their sin and rose from the grave so they could be set free from their sin and death forever. Jesus is the Messiah. He is the one foretold by John the Baptist and all of the Old Testament prophets. Jesus alone is Lord and Savior. Let us commit ourselves to Him and His kingdom cause. from Paradigm Shift Ministries http://ift.tt/1sBIhBh via IFTTT

Holy Spirit – May 26, 2016

Today’s Translation: The Message | Weekly Video: The Whole Truth (Acts 18:24-19:7) “Now, it happened that while Apollos was away in Corinth, Paul made his way down through the mountains, came to Ephesus, and happened on some disciples there. The first thing he said was, ‘Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? Did you take God into your mind only, or did you also embrace him with your heart? Did he get inside you?’ ‘We’ve never even heard of that— a Holy Spirit? God within us?'” – Acts 19:1-2 (MSG) Live It Out! Here we have more disciples from Ephesus who, like Apollos, had not heard the whole story of how God had sent the Holy Spirit to fill us so we can continue the work Jesus started. When Jesus told his followers they would go on to do greater things than He did, it was because He knew the Holy Spirit would come and fill them. When God calls us into ministry (whether vocational or not), He fills us with Himself so we can fully lean on His strength. The Creator

Encourage Each Other – May 25, 2016

Today’s Translation: Holman Christian Standard Bible | Weekly Video: The Whole Truth (Acts 18:24-19:7) “When he wanted to cross over to Achaia, the brothers wrote to the disciples urging them to welcome him. After he arrived, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace. For he vigorously refuted the Jews in public, demonstrating through the Scriptures that Jesus is the Messiah.” – Acts 18:27-28 (HCSB) Live It Out! Once Apollos was on the right track thanks to Priscilla and Aquila, he felt led to go to Achaia, which is the province where Corinth was located. Because he was open to correction and eager to work alongside his fellow believers, the Christians in Ephesus wrote to the Corinthians on his behalf. We should follow this example today – both in vouching for others and being people who deserve to be vouched for. And, like Apollos, led our ministry always be all about Jesus. from Paradigm Shift Ministries http://ift.tt/1UcPssX via IFTTT

Gentle Correction – May 24, 2016

Today’s Translation: The Voice Bible |  Weekly Video:   The Whole Truth (Acts 18:24-19:7) “So, when Priscilla and Aquila heard him speak boldly in the synagogue, they discerned both his gift and his lack of full understanding. They took him aside and in private explained the way of God to him more accurately and fully.” – Acts 18:26 (VOICE) Live It Out!  Apollos was a new believer who was on fire for God. While he was willing and skilled at sharing his faith, he needed to have things better explained to him. Instead of calling him out publicly, Priscilla and Aquila pulled him aside and spoke to him privately. It is easy to criticize and discourage others, but we are called to be better than that. We are in this together. We best serve the Kingdom when we build each other up rather than tear each other down. from Paradigm Shift Ministries http://ift.tt/20ug36B via IFTTT

Start with Scripture – May 23, 2016

Today’s Translation : New Living Translation | Weekly Video : The Whole Truth (Acts 18:24-19:7) “Meanwhile, a Jew named Apollos, an eloquent speaker who knew the Scriptures well, had arrived in Ephesus from Alexandria in Egypt. He had been taught the way of the Lord, and he taught others about Jesus with an enthusiastic spirit and with accuracy. However, he knew only about John’s baptism.” – Acts 18:24-25 (NLT) Live It Out! Apollos was a well educated Jew from the metropolitan city of Alexandria (in Egypt). He likely heard about Jesus from a follower of John the Baptist. Because of this, he wouldn’t have heard the whole story (namely the death, resurrection and ascension). Like many new believers, he was highly enthusiastic when it came to sharing the Gospel. However, unlike most new believers, he began his ministry with a sound knowledge of Scripture. His solid foundation was a critical piece in his lasting legacy of faith. from Paradigm Shift Ministries http://ift.tt/1s4ch97

Six Thirty Saturday Nite (Us vs. Them: Part 2) – May 7, 2016

Image
Every week, we stream live across Facebook, Periscope, Twitter, YouTube and Live.PrayGrowServe.com. We call it church on the go. This we continued the story of Peter and Cornelius, which shows there is no us vs. them in the kingdom of God. from Paradigm Shift Ministries http://ift.tt/273Soiu via IFTTT

Action Items – May 6, 2016

Today’s Translation : New International Version | Weekly Video : Us vs. Them: Part 1 (Acts 10:1-23) “While Peter was wondering about the meaning of the vision, the men sent by Cornelius found out where Simon’s house was and stopped at the gate. They called out, asking if Simon who was known as Peter was staying there. While Peter was still thinking about the vision, the Spirit said to him, ‘Simon, three men are looking for you. So get up and go downstairs. Do not hesitate to go with them, for I have sent them.'” – Acts 10:17-20 (NIV) Live It Out! Any good meeting ends with a list of definable action items. When we meet God in prayer, we should expect to walk away with a list of things to do. God showed Peter a vision and immediately sent him on his way so he could see it fulfilled. When God gives you a dream or a passion, don’t sit on it. Instead of waiting, take a leap of faith knowing the Holy Spirit will guide your steps. from Paradigm Shift Ministries http://ift.tt/1rwJ1

Made Clean – May 5, 2016

Today’s Translation : The Message | Weekly Video : Us vs. Them: Part 1 (Acts 10:1-23) “The voice came a second time: ‘If God says it’s okay, it’s okay.’ This happened three times, and then the blanket was pulled back up into the skies.” – Acts 10:15-16 (MSG) Live It Out! What God says is clean is clean. We do not have the right to determine who or what is clean or unclean. Our Heavenly Father created us, but we have been separated from Him because of our sin nature. Without the blood of Christ, none of us can claim we are good enough to stand in His presence. We must realize we are all on equal footing. We all need Jesus in our lives. We all need to be transformed from the inside out by the Holy Spirit. There is no us vs. them — there is only us and Him. from Paradigm Shift Ministries http://ift.tt/1W9AneF via IFTTT

Beyond Comfort Zone – May 4, 2016

Today’s Translation : Holman Christian Standard Bible | Weekly Video : Us vs. Them: Part 1 (Acts 10:1-23) “The next day, as they were traveling and nearing the city, Peter went up to pray on the housetop about noon. Then he became hungry and wanted to eat, but while they were preparing something, he went into a visionary state. He saw heaven opened and an object that resembled a large sheet coming down, being lowered by its four corners to the earth. In it were all the four-footed animals and reptiles of the earth, and the birds of the sky. Then a voice said to him, ‘Get up, Peter; kill and eat!’ ‘No, Lord!’ Peter said. ‘For I have never eaten anything common and ritually unclean!'” – Acts 10:9-14 (HCSB) Live It Out! Often, when God answers our prayer, His answer requires us to move beyond our comfort zone. Peter didn’t know it at the time, but God was preparing him to take the Gospel to the household of Cornelius, who would become one of the first Gentiles to join the Church.

Faith Over Race – May 3, 2016

Today’s Translation : The Voice Bible | Weekly Video : Us vs. Them: Part 1 (Acts 10:1-23) “About three o’clock one afternoon, he had a vision of a messenger of God. Messenger of God : ‘Cornelius!’ Cornelius (terrified) : ‘What is it, sir?’ Messenger of God : ‘God has heard your prayers, and He has seen your kindness to the poor. God has taken notice of you. Send men south to Joppa, to the house of a tanner named Simon. Ask to speak to a guest of his named Simon, but also called Peter. You’ll find this house near the waterfront.’ After the messenger departed, Cornelius immediately called two of his slaves and a soldier under his command— an especially devout soldier. He told them the whole story and sent them to Joppa.” – Acts 10:3-8 (VOICE) Live It Out! God sees our faith, not the color of our skin (or anything else we try to define ourselves by). It doesn’t matter if you are a Jewish fisherman, an Ethiopian eunuch or a Roman centurion; if you have faith in Jesus, God will hear you

The Centurion – May 2, 2016

Today’s Translation : New Living Translation | Weekly Video : Us vs. Them: Part 1 (Acts 10:1-23) “In Caesarea there lived a Roman army officer named Cornelius, who was a captain of the Italian Regiment. He was a devout, God-fearing man, as was everyone in his household. He gave generously to the poor and prayed regularly to God.” – Acts 10:1-2 (NLT) Live It Out! Cornelius was one of many Gentiles who had come to believe in the God of Israel, but, because of his ethnicity, he could not fully join the Jewish community. He was a Roman centurion who had been commissioned to protect the provincial officials. His conversion to Christianity would open the door of the Church to people who were not ethnically Jewish. It doesn’t matter who you are, what you look like or what you do for a living – Jesus welcomes all. from Paradigm Shift Ministries http://ift.tt/1UubF7Q via IFTTT

Six Thirty Saturday Nite (Us vs. Them: Part 1) – April 30, 2016

Image
Every Six Thirty Saturday Nite (6:30pm EST), we go live across Facebook, Periscope, Twitter, YouTube and Live.PrayGrowServe.com to worship with our brothers and sisters all over the world. This week, we began a two part look at the story of Peter and Cornelius. The big idea for the week is that there is no us vs. them in the kingdom of God. Jesus died for us all. Race, gender, ethnicity, etc. are all secondary to having faith in the living Christ. from Paradigm Shift Ministries http://ift.tt/1W04Uwe via IFTTT
