Emptied Cup – March 31, 2016

Today’s Translation : The Message | Weekly Video : The New Covenant (Luke 22:14-23) “He did the same with the cup after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant written in my blood, blood poured out for you.'” – Luke 22:20 (MSG) Live It Out! When Jesus took the cup, He said “this is my blood, shed for you.” Every ounce of the Savior’s blood was poured out for us on that first Good Friday. Jesus, the perfect Son of God, emptied Himself for us on the cross. But the wine also represents the sweetness of the resurrection. When Jesus said, “It is finished,” the story did not end. On the third day, He rose from the dead and once again walked with His disciples. Let us, on this day, allow ourselves to be emptied of our anger, our bitterness and our hatred of our fellow man. Jesus didn’t just die for His friends, He died for us all. And He sent His Spirit to empower us to continue His work here on earth. When we drink the wine (or juice), let’s prepare our hearts to do His work to...

Broken Bread – March 30, 2016

Today’s Translation : Holman Christian Standard Bible | Weekly Video : The New Covenant (Luke 22:14-23) “And He took bread, gave thanks, broke it, gave it to them, and said, ‘This is My body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.’” – Luke 22:19 (HCSB) Live It Out! When Jesus took the bread and broke it, He said “this is my body, broken for you.” As the Church, we too are His body, and we are very much broken today. Let us gather together in His name as often as we can so that we can remember the bitterness of His death. The cross, the ultimate symbol of suffering and shame, soon to be redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. When we eat the bread, may we do so as the unified body of Christ. from Paradigm Shift Ministries http://ift.tt/21TkMP4 via IFTTT

Happy Easter! (And Thank You!)

This past weekend was our first public Easter service since we began the process of moving from a parachurch organization to an online church. Our structure may be different, but our heart remains the same as it has been since church league basketball became a thing in the late 1800’s – we will use whatever means we available to us to tell people about who Jesus is, what He came to do and what He is calling us to do. Whether it’s through sports, music or social media, our goal is to take the Gospel message wherever people are. Many of you on this newsletter list have supported our ministry for years, and I want to personally thank you. This weekend, we had 11 people join us for worship in person at The Haven on Vine with 50 reported live viewers on Facebook and Periscope. Within 24 hours, we also had 73 email opens, 225 Facebook video views and 273 Twitter impressions (of our autoplay video). We can also confirm viewers from Poland, France, Germany, Singapore, Turkey and Saudi Arabia ...

Kingdom of God – March 29, 2016

Today’s Translation : The Voice Bible | Weekly Video : The New Covenant (Luke 22:14-22) “ Jesus : ‘Know this: I will not eat another Passover meal until its meaning is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.’ He took a cup of wine and gave thanks for it. Jesus : ‘Take this; share it among yourselves. Know this: I will not drink another sip of wine until the kingdom of God has arrived in fullness.’” – Luke 22:16-18 (VOICE) Live It Out! Jesus talked a lot about the Kingdom of God. He was killed by those who were threatened by His claim to the throne of Israel, but Jesus claimed His kingdom was not of this world. When we gather together as the Church, we must keep our eyes on our heavenly home. Our mandate is not to build up an earthly kingdom but to store our treasures in heaven where moth or rust will not reach them. from Paradigm Shift Ministries http://ift.tt/1RH8nrN via IFTTT

The Passover Meal – March 28, 2016

Today’s Translation : New Living Translation | Weekly Video : The New Covenant (Luke 22:14-22) “When the time came, Jesus and the apostles sat down together at the table. Jesus said, ‘I have been very eager to eat this Passover meal with you before my suffering begins.'” – Luke 22:14-15 (NLT) Live It Out! The Passover meal was an important event in the Jewish calendar. It was when families would come together to reflect on the events leading up to the exodus out of Egypt. In the story, the angel of death passed over the homes marked by the blood of a lamb. We believe Jesus to be the perfect and final Passover Lamb. Death will pass over us because we have been marked by His holy blood. from Paradigm Shift Ministries http://ift.tt/22VxiQq via IFTTT
