Holy Spirit – May 26, 2016

“Now, it happened that while Apollos was away in Corinth, Paul made his way down through the mountains, came to Ephesus, and happened on some disciples there. The first thing he said was, ‘Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? Did you take God into your mind only, or did you also embrace him with your heart? Did he get inside you?’ ‘We’ve never even heard of that— a Holy Spirit? God within us?'” – Acts 19:1-2 (MSG)

Live It Out!

Here we have more disciples from Ephesus who, like Apollos, had not heard the whole story of how God had sent the Holy Spirit to fill us so we can continue the work Jesus started. When Jesus told his followers they would go on to do greater things than He did, it was because He knew the Holy Spirit would come and fill them. When God calls us into ministry (whether vocational or not), He fills us with Himself so we can fully lean on His strength. The Creator of the universe working in us and through us!

Just as God called out Israel to be His witnesses during their time in exile, He is calling us out in our exile. This world is not our home. Let us stay focused on heaven above while telling people about what Jesus has done in our lives.
