Start with Scripture – May 23, 2016

Today’s Translation: New Living Translation | Weekly Video: The Whole Truth (Acts 18:24-19:7)

“Meanwhile, a Jew named Apollos, an eloquent speaker who knew the Scriptures well, had arrived in Ephesus from Alexandria in Egypt. He had been taught the way of the Lord, and he taught others about Jesus with an enthusiastic spirit and with accuracy. However, he knew only about John’s baptism.” – Acts 18:24-25 (NLT)

Live It Out!

Apollos was a well educated Jew from the metropolitan city of Alexandria (in Egypt). He likely heard about Jesus from a follower of John the Baptist. Because of this, he wouldn’t have heard the whole story (namely the death, resurrection and ascension). Like many new believers, he was highly enthusiastic when it came to sharing the Gospel. However, unlike most new believers, he began his ministry with a sound knowledge of Scripture. His solid foundation was a critical piece in his lasting legacy of faith.
