The Centurion – May 2, 2016

Today’s Translation: New Living Translation | Weekly Video: Us vs. Them: Part 1 (Acts 10:1-23)

“In Caesarea there lived a Roman army officer named Cornelius, who was a captain of the Italian Regiment. He was a devout, God-fearing man, as was everyone in his household. He gave generously to the poor and prayed regularly to God.” – Acts 10:1-2 (NLT)

Live It Out!

Cornelius was one of many Gentiles who had come to believe in the God of Israel, but, because of his ethnicity, he could not fully join the Jewish community. He was a Roman centurion who had been commissioned to protect the provincial officials. His conversion to Christianity would open the door of the Church to people who were not ethnically Jewish. It doesn’t matter who you are, what you look like or what you do for a living – Jesus welcomes all.
