Pleasing God – September 8, 2016

Today’s Translation: The Message | Weekly Video: The Beginning (Hebrews 11:1-7) 

“By an act of faith, Enoch skipped death completely. “They looked all over and couldn’t find him because God had taken him.” We know on the basis of reliable testimony that before he was taken “he pleased God.”” – Hebrews 11:5 (MSG)

Live It Out!

We do not know much about Enoch, but we do know that his faith pleased God. Enoch was the great-grandfather of Noah, and certainly, we can look to Enoch as a possible influence for the great faith in God Noah showed when he built the ark. Enoch was believed to have been taken into heaven before death because of his righteousness and faith.

Just as God called out Israel to be His witnesses during their time in exile, He is calling us out in our exile. This world is not our home. Let us stay focused on heaven above while telling people about what Jesus has done in our lives.
